Dear RMS Parents,

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year at Riverwatch Middle School!  The Riverwatch Middle School Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) is a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) organization made up of parents, teachers, students, administrators and support staff who are all dedicated to the successful education of our children.

The PTSO supports school staff and students through volunteering and funding.  Last year the PTSO funded approximately $30,000.00 in teacher grants and school improvements which supported and enhanced the education of our students.  We also contributed towards hands on learning curriculum materials, guest speakers, an outdoor garden, water bottle fillers, cafeteria renovations and more.  The PTSO plans and helps to run events such as the book fair, new family welcome, electronic recycling, social events for all grades, 8th grade dance and staff appreciation week.

Our major fundraiser is our annual membership donation drive.  Your membership in the PTSO does not obligate you to volunteer or attend meetings, it is a pledge of your support of our school and the PTSO funding goals through a tax deductible donation and/or volunteering if you are able. You may donate via our website.

We are excited to announce a partnership with the school to fund an Outdoor Classroom on the RMS campus.  An outdoor classroom will be a useful tool in the education of our children.  Not only do lessons in nature boost classroom engagement, providing children with more contact with nature in the course of the school day improves physical and mental health.1 Additionally, an outdoor classroom will help to provide a needed space for community gatherings.

The PTSO hopes to support other needs such as teacher grants, additional water bottle filler stations and improving the signage in the school.

Anyone with a child at Riverwatch Middle School is invited to take part in the volunteer opportunities we offer.  Please take the time to complete a volunteer form on our website to let us know your interests.

This year RMS will be promoting the #RMStogether theme.  Please consider joining the RMS PTSO today with a donation so together we can make a positive impact on the lives of our children and create an enriched environment for them to learn and grow.

Thank you for your support,
Rebecca Hall - RMS PTSO President
